Hopkins 6th Grade Band
A student who is entering 6th grade at Hopkins Middle School may participate in the Hopkins 6th Grade Band. Instruments include Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion.
The 6th Grade Band allows students to work with a state-credentialed music teacher and with “instrument specialists” on each of the band instruments. Students continue to use band method books, and play a variety of band pieces with a focus on learning to perform in a large ensemble. There are two or more concerts during the school year.
This class also presents the first opportunity for students to explore switching instruments. These include Oboe, Bassoon, Tenor Saxophone, French Horn, Trombone, and Baritone.
